Isometric
Isometry is the most popular way of viewing in the dawn of the gaming industry. Initially, such games used isometric projection to display the world. The camera is positioned at an angle above the game world. All projection axes maintain a single scale, which helps conserve system performance resources. Nowadays, games with this type of camera are still called isometric, even though they use full 3D with scaling of models, sprites, and textures. This view is most commonly used in strategy and role-playing games.
