The PlayStation 2 has backward compatibility with PlayStation games. By the end of 2006, 2,693 different games had been released for the PlayStation 2, allowing it to take a leading position among competitors. The best of the best games for the PlayStation 2 was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The successor to the console was the PlayStation 3.
