The Outer Worlds 2 is a dynamic RPG-shooter in a futuristic style about explorers of distant planets. The project will appeal to fans of complex questlines with interesting characters and detailed stories. In this guide, we'll tell you whether you should help Cadet Corbin at the beginning of the game. In addition, you'll learn how the dialogue system works and what consequences await the player depending on the chosen phrases.
Who is Corbin
Near the end of the first mission, you'll meet fourth-class cadet Corbin, who is responsible for the bridge leading to the station's core. Before talking to him, we recommend saving your game. Here you'll get your first chance to experience the dialogue system mechanics. The game features moments where the protagonist's lines have a strong impact. This is the first situation where the future of the story depends on your dialogue choices.
Dialogue options are influenced by many factors, such as:
- Backstory.
- Positive and negative traits.
- Level of certain skills.
- Possession of important items.
- Presence of companions.
- Knowledge of special information.
That's why, in conversations with important characters, special lines appear that affect future events. In this case, the cadet's diary, found in the building opposite the jump lab where the explosion occurred, will play a role.
The diary reveals that the cadet has a number of infractions. Using this information, you can persuade him to lower the bridge in exchange for a favor: clearing his personal record. So it's recommended to gather as much knowledge as possible from dialogues with characters and read all kinds of notes.
How to Help Corbin
Convince the cadet to lower the bridge and meet with Augustine de Vries. Take the elevator to the research center and eliminate the soldiers. Now leave the hall and enter the first room on the left. Inside, you'll find a terminal with Corbin's personal file. Delete all disciplinary actions and continue the storyline.
Should You Help Corbin
After completing the first story mission, you'll find yourself on a paradise island. At the end of the long quest The Saboteur of Paradise, you'll definitely end up at the Glass Protectorate station. If you convinced the cadet to lower the bridge in the prologue and fulfilled his request, he will now appear as Marshal Corbin. Most likely, thanks to his clean record, the guy was able to build a career as a high-ranking officer.
Corbin will remember your help. So, if you have the Mobilization Order obtained from Hogarth, you can ask him for assistance. The station is commanded by a deranged general who kills subordinates for the slightest infraction. With the marshal's help, you can force the general to step down or eliminate him together.
