Exploring the world in The Outer Worlds 2 is much more fun and simply more comfortable if you have a J.I.P. (Jump Induction Plasma) in your gear—a device that allows you to perform double jumps. You can get it early in the game by completing one of the side quests. In this guide, we’ll explain how to do it.
How to Get Double Jump
After the prologue, you’ll head to the Paradise Island location, where the town of Fairfield is located. On the main street of this town stands a man in a green jacket. His name is Huel Chandry, and he’s ready to share his fortune with anyone who helps him retrieve valuable blueprints. Talk to him to start the quest A Thorny Path to Rocky Grove. The quest marker will point the way to the plasma inductor.
The J.I.P. is with the inventor Jackson Plum, who went to Rocky Grove to test his latest device. You need to meet him. However, on the way you’ll encounter a small obstacle in the form of a broken elevator. A handy character with [Engineering 3] can easily fix it, but if your hero isn’t tech-savvy, you’ll have to climb up the ledges.
After climbing up, you’ll see a tower from which Plum jumps off. Unfortunately, the device test ended with the inventor’s death, which is a reference to the Bethesda classic The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
There’s nothing left for the player to do but loot the poor guy, receiving the quest item—found blueprints and the double jump inductor (J.I.P.).
To get used to using this device faster, it’s best not to skip the quest The Final Death of Gravity, which is given by two unfortunate Auntie Cleo’s Choice Corp. employees stuck at the top of that very tower.
After your adventure on the plain, you need to return to Huel Chandry and give him the found blueprints. By turning in the quest A Thorny Path to Rocky Grove, you’ll receive a modest reward of 350 bits, but it’s important to note that the main reward for completing it is the jump module.
