Alleged GTA 6 Footage Has Surfaced Online: We Take A Closer Look At The Leak (Updated)

Several days before the next official Grand Theft Auto 6 showcase, an anonymous leaker group known as Cyberleek began releasing a series of videos and images purportedly captured from a test build of the game. The footage shows Jason driving around the city, confronting police officers and civilians, stealing vehicles, and using various gameplay mechanics. Cyberleek also published what appears to be a map of the open world.

It appears to show genuine GTA 6 gameplay, although one major question remains: how old is the test build, and how closely do its mechanics reflect the current version of the game?

In the first video, Jason steps into the yard of a house and plays with a basketball. The character can pick it up, aim, and throw it, and the interface changes depending on the action.

The second gameplay fragment contains far more detail. Jason drives around the city, gets into crashes, and comes into conflict with a driver, after which a police chase begins. If the recording is real, GTA 6 has indeed borrowed several systems from Red Dead Redemption 2 and made the series' familiar formula more realistic.

The clip also suggests that ordinary police patrols drive around the city. They barely react to traffic violations, but after a crime is reported they first try to locate the suspect rather than receiving his coordinates automatically. In that case, it will be possible to escape the wanted level before the police identify the protagonist.

Cyberleek later released the third video. Set at night, the footage shows Jason confronting police officers attempting to arrest him. Context-sensitive prompts suggest that the player can surrender, while aiming at one of the officers brings up a Tag option, presumably used to mark a target. Jason also fires a Taser, and one kill triggers a brief slow-motion effect reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Approaching a vehicle brings up two options: Clone Key and Smash Window. This suggests cars can be broken into either relatively quietly by cloning the electronic key or through brute force by smashing a window.

The clip also helps establish when the footage was recorded. Tate McRae’s Sports Car can be heard playing on the radio; the song was released on January 24, 2025. This rules out claims circulating online that the footage dates back to 2023.

The video ends with a short cutscene featuring Jason and Cal Hampton. Jason tells his friend, “Enjoy your life till the men in suits decide to finally shut you the f*** up,” to which Cal replies, “They don’t know nothin’ about me, man. I use a VPN!” Cyberleek appears to have selected this particular exchange as a deliberate jab at Rockstar.

In the fourth clip, Jason attacks a police officer with a knife, steals his motorcycle, and rides under a bridge, where he gets into a knife fight with a group of homeless people. A full weapon wheel appears on screen, while conversations feature context-sensitive dialogue options reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2. The stolen police motorcycle also remains marked with a location icon, perhaps indicating that law-enforcement vehicles can be tracked.

The mini-map features icons for fast-food restaurants, suggesting they may once again be functional, as in GTA: San Andreas. Jason also loots a painkiller called Zombix from one of the homeless men. It temporarily restores health, but an on-screen warning states that repeated doses become less effective for a while, preventing players from relying on it continuously.

In the fifth video, Jason flies a small yellow-and-blue biplane over the wetlands outside Vice City before heading toward the downtown skyline. During the flight, the player cycles through several radio stations: V-Rock plays Stevie Nicks’ “For What It’s Worth,” Back Country Radio features Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy,” Stockyard FM offers Róisín Murphy’s “Overpowered,” and Symphony FM plays the third movement of Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5. CircoLoco Records Radio also appears in the menu, although no track is selected.

Near the end of the video, Jason fires a rifle at walls, showing the bullet holes left behind on their surfaces. He then uses the shots to spell out LEEK — apparently misspelling “leak.”

The sixth clip arrived after a gap of more than 24 hours, by which point many had assumed Rockstar had managed to stop the leaks. This time, Jason steals what appears to be a sports car with a large rear wing and simply drives through city streets and along highways. A separate prompt appears when carjacking the vehicle, requiring the player to pull the driver out. Pedestrians barely react, but the police are alerted. The interface also suggests that tracking devices can be fitted to civilian cars, not just police vehicles. Police search zones appear to be present as well: Jason escapes the pursuit, but his wanted stars return after he enters an area marked in red on the mini-map.

The ninth video showcases the interior of a strip club. The venue appears quite spacious, and the high density of NPCs inside is especially noteworthy. Footage featuring a topless dancer proves that the game will lack censorship. Additionally, the clip reveals that the developers have implemented advanced breast and glute physics for female characters. Toward the end of the video, the protagonist pulls out a pair of binoculars to get a closer look at one of the performers.

The tenth video showcases a flight over the city at night. The clip also reveals the names and logos of several radio stations. Furthermore, the leak confirms that the game will feature tracks from artists such as Lindsey Buckingham, George Strait, Gustav Mahler, Horace Andy, Cliff Richard, Myke Towers, Jamiroquai, and Marianne Rosenberg.

Reddit users also spotted scooters and working turn signals, while identifying two songs on the radio: French Montana’s “Unforgettable” and Coi Leray’s “Players.”

In the eleventh leaked GTA 6 video, Jason finds himself at a nudist party where numerous nude characters are seen drinking, dancing, and hanging out by the pool. Toward the end of the scene, Jason gets into a fight with one of the partygoers, pushes her into the pool, then pulls out a Girardi ES9 pistol based on the Beretta 92FS and shoots her. The video carries a CYBERLEEK watermark. The leaker hints at a possible release of new footage allegedly showing Lucia's prologue and is running a poll asking the audience to support further leaks. One of the proposed conditions is for 10 people to show up outside Rockstar's office wearing leek costumes.

In the twelfth leaked GTA 6 gameplay clip, players get a look at the upscale nightclub Nine1Nine, with Canadian singer The Weeknd’s “Wanderlust” playing in the background. Based on the footage, this appears to be the same venue where Jason and Lucia may have been seen in a scene from the game’s second trailer. The clip also highlights the high density of NPCs, making the club feel particularly lively. Players can interact with patrons, engage them in conversations, and react to situations in different ways. Much like in Red Dead Redemption 2, some conversations can either defuse a conflict or escalate the situation into something more tense. Interestingly, the same nightclub also appeared in an older 2022 leak.

The thirteenth leaked gameplay clip shows Jason riding a bicycle along a Vice City beach. The area has already been featured in official screenshots and trailers for the game. The footage is packed with NPCs: some are sunbathing on the beach, while others are chatting with each other or sitting around staring at their phones. During the ride, however, Jason accidentally runs over a bird.

The fourteenth leaked GTA 6 gameplay video shows Jason visiting Game Horde, a store specializing in classic retro games. The footage features plenty of interesting details and references, including arcade machines and posters for Camhedz, Defender of the Faith, and Badlands Revenge 2 — fictional games that have previously appeared in GTA Online.

The shelves also feature various games, some of which may be references to real-world franchises. For example, Glory Souls 2 could be a parody of Dark Souls, judging by its name. Game Horde also sells smartphone accessories such as cases, local PS5 equivalents, DualShock 4-style controllers, and physical copies of games.

The fifteenth leaked gameplay video of Grand Theft Auto 6, published by CYBERLEEK, features a police chase involving Jason. The protagonist tries to escape the cops in a customized car with flashy neon lights that appears to have been modified at Rideout Customs. The video also ends with a brief cutscene featuring Lucia, offering another short glimpse at the game's story.

The sixteenth Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay leak focuses on the game's prologue. It features gameplay with Lucia and runs for around four and a half minutes. We deliberately won't reveal what happens in the video or any of the details shown, so as not to spoil the experience for those planning to wait for the official presentation.

The same source published an image of the alleged full map of the state of Leonida. It marks five counties: Lummox County in the north, Kelly County in the west, Leonard County in the east, Mariana County in the south, and Vice-Dale County, which contains the main urban agglomeration.

Judging by the image, the densest development is concentrated in the southeast. There you can make out downtown Vice City, port districts, a large airport, a network of bridges, and elongated coastal islands. The western and northern parts of the state look significantly less urbanized: most of the territory is taken up by forests, swamps, rivers, and small settlements. To the south stretches a chain of islands resembling the Florida Keys, and on a separate island in the southwest sits another airfield.

The map, of course, should be treated with caution. Some of its outlines match the fan reconstruction that the community has been piecing together for several years from trailers and the 2022 leak. This could speak either in favor of genuine material or of the fact that the fakers used the community's ready-made project as a basis.

Cyberleek calls itself a defender of players' rights. The project's website publishes a manifesto with three demands: to abandon digital pre-orders, to stop selling separately the single-player content already present in the game files, and to preserve access to single-player modes after servers are shut down.

The authors claim they will keep publishing materials until the publishers involved issue public apologies and promise to change their policies. In the case of GTA 6, they cite digital pre-orders and the absence of a full physical edition as the reason. Rockstar has officially stated that the boxed version at launch will contain a download code rather than a disc.

It's worth noting that the Cyberleek page hosts details of a cryptocurrency with a total supply of 1 billion tokens, trading information, and a request to fund some "secret project." The alleged GTA 6 map also directly urges people to buy the token. In the discussion, users suggested that the loud clips are primarily meant to draw attention to the cryptocurrency.

On August 26, Rockstar Games addressed the leak for the first time, effectively confirming that the videos were authentic. The studio said that seeing the gameplay released in this manner had been heartbreaking for the team, as the developers had intended to reveal GTA 6 under very different circumstances. The company also apologized for the lengthy wait and said that development was nearly complete. Rockstar expressed regret that the leak may have spoiled part of the experience and urged players to wait for the game’s release on November 19.

Rockstar’s statement has effectively settled the question of the videos’ authenticity: the company directly acknowledged that GTA 6 gameplay footage had leaked online. However, the developers did not clarify how old the featured build was or which of its mechanics remain in the current version. Rough animations and unfinished elements may simply indicate that the footage was captured from a test build, so it is still too early to judge the quality of the final game based on these videos.
