Rockstar Games is about to open GTA 6 pre-orders, and it has already shared the key details. The company confirmed the editions and laid out their prices, contents, and bonuses ahead of time — among them extra vehicles, weapons, clothing, and other in-game items. In this guide we break down how much GTA 6 costs, how the editions differ, and which one is worth picking.

When do GTA 6 pre-orders open

GTA 6 pre-orders start opening at midnight local time on June 25, 2026 across available regions. In New Zealand, for example, they're already live (as of this writing).

The game launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version hasn't been officially announced yet.

You can pre-order GTA 6 on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and through major retailers.

GTA 6 price: how much it costs

The GTA 6 Standard Edition price is $79.99. So Rockstar Games didn't push the base price to $100, despite the rumors that circulated online long before pre-orders were officially announced.

GTA 6 isn't the first game to hit $79.99. Mario Kart World crossed the $80 psychological barrier earlier.

GTA 6 Standard Edition

The Standard Edition includes the full GTA 6 single-player campaign. The story takes place in the state of Leonida, with Jason and Lucia as the lead characters. Rockstar Games calls it the biggest and most detailed world in the series so far. Read more about the story setup and the game as a whole in our feature, Everything We Know About GTA 6.

The GTA 6 Standard Edition costs $79.99.

Everyone who pre-orders or buys the game before November 20, 2026 also gets the Vintage Vice City Pack. More on that below.

GTA 6: Ultimate Edition

The expanded version of GTA 6 is called the Ultimate Edition.

The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 — $20 more than the Standard Edition.

It bundles a set of premium content tied to Jason and Lucia. This isn't a single pack you get at the start: Rockstar notes the bonuses are spread across different chapters of the campaign and unlock gradually as you progress.

One of the headline bonuses is the '95 Grotti Cheetah sports car. It sports a minimalist, retro-futuristic livery and is built for fast runs across Leonida. Other vehicles include the Dinka Enduro motorcycle and the Crest kayak, parked near Jason's starter safehouse. Owners also get the exclusive Ganado Retro Build mod for the Vapid Ganado pickup, with a lowered stance and exclusive parts.

Extra vehicles:

  • '95 Grotti Cheetah;
  • Dinka Enduro motorcycle;
  • Crest kayak;
  • Vapid Ganado with the Ganado Retro Build kit;
  • '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy;
  • Shitzu Squalo boat.

A separate batch of bonuses is built around weapons. Jason and Lucia get the paired Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, finished in classic Vice City style, with palm-tree grips, engraving, and a high-performance scope.

There are also personalized sidearms for each: a gilded Girardi ES9 for Jason and a Klose K17 for Lucia. They differ not just in color but in detailed engraving tied to each owner.

The edition includes cosmetics, too. Jason and Lucia get exclusive outfits, tattoos, and other looks — modern styles in the spirit of present-day Vice City: bright shirts, jewelry, shades, and beachwear. Don't confuse these with the retro outfits in the Vintage Vice City Pack: that's a separate pre-order bonus styled after 1980s Vice City fashion.

The Ultimate Edition also grants access to exclusive venues that open up as the story unfolds. These include the Rideout Customs tuning shop in Vice City and One-Eyed Willie's in Lake Leonida for off-road builds, Sara's beauty salon, the Stock 305 clothing store, and a tattoo parlor. There's also the Classic Car Collection — tracking down and restoring abandoned classic cars for the collector Wyman, with four of them exclusive to the Ultimate Edition.

So GTA 6: Ultimate Edition includes:

  • Exclusive vehicles;
  • Special car mods;
  • The paired Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers;
  • Jason's and Lucia's personalized pistols;
  • Exclusive clothing;
  • Tattoos, hairstyles, and other looks;
  • Access to exclusive venues: a tuning shop, beauty salon, clothing store, and tattoo parlor;
  • Extra items and activities that unlock through the story.

What is the Vintage Vice City Pack

Every GTA 6 pre-order, regardless of edition, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.

Rockstar Games describes it as a set of items harking back to when Vice City's neon "burned brightest." It's all about the 1980s aesthetic and the classic [game=]Grand Theft Auto: Vice City[/game].

The pack includes a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and a matching garage, vintage outfits and hairstyles, plus a special weapon finish.

Importantly, the bonus isn't limited to pre-order buyers. It's also available to anyone who buys GTA 6 on launch day or before November 20, 2026.

Will GTA 6 have an online mode

Judging by the wording of the official press release, the single-player version of GTA 6 is the one launching on November 19. Rockstar hasn't confirmed that a new online mode will be available alongside the campaign, so it will most likely arrive later. That matches the studio's track record: GTA Online showed up two weeks after GTA 5, and the multiplayer mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 came months later.

A free month of GTA+

Anyone who pre-orders a digital version of GTA 6 gets one free month of GTA+.

You'll be able to activate the bonus right away, even before GTA 6 launches. The subscription unlocks perks in GTA Online plus the GTA+ Games Library, which includes GTA 5 and other Rockstar titles.

The GTA+ bonus is listed for digital pre-orders only. Buyers of the physical version aren't mentioned separately in the press release.

When does GTA 6 preloading start

Owners of digital versions can start preloading on November 12, 2026 — a week before the official launch.

That lets you install the game ahead of time and jump in on November 19 the moment it unlocks.

The physical version of GTA 6 also goes on sale November 12, but the box contains a download code rather than a disc. That, too, lets you start installing early.

Why the physical GTA 6 has no disc

Rockstar hasn't explained the decision yet, so we can only guess at the reasons. One obvious possibility is the game's size. PS5 discs hold up to 100 GB, and GTA 6's size hasn't been revealed — there are rumors of 200 GB and even 300 GB. If the game is much larger, the publisher would have to use several expensive discs.

Another possible reason, though a less likely one, is fighting early leaks. Physical copies of big games often reach buyers and store staff before the official release, after which gameplay footage, story details, and spoilers show up online. A code in the box lowers that risk, since you can't launch GTA 6 before the server-side unlock.

For collectors, though, it's a divisive move. The box won't hold a standalone copy of the game, and access to GTA 6 stays tied to a digital store and account. Rockstar hasn't said whether a full disc-based or collector's edition will arrive later, but fingers crossed.

Which GTA 6 edition should you choose

The Standard Edition looks like the most sensible pick for most players. It costs $20 less than the Ultimate Edition, and buying before November 20 still includes the Vintage Vice City Pack with its retro car, garage, clothing, hairstyles, and 1980s-style weapon finish.

The Ultimate Edition is aimed at those who care about extra items for the campaign. It packs several exclusive vehicles, including the '95 Grotti Cheetah, Dinka Enduro, Crest kayak, Shitzu Squalo boat, and special versions of the Vapid Ganado and Dominator Buggy. The set also has the paired Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, Jason's and Lucia's personalized pistols, modern outfits, tattoos, and other looks.

The extra $20 only makes sense for players who want all the bonus content and plan to use it actively during their playthrough. There's no rush, either: Rockstar confirmed you'll be able to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at any point, even after release, by paying the difference. So if you're unsure, it's reasonable to grab the Standard Edition and add the expanded set later if you actually need it.

The digital pre-order also includes a free month of GTA+, but that bonus is mainly aimed at active GTA Online players. For anyone who isn't returning to GTA 5 before the new game lands, the subscription adds little to the pre-order's value.
