In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you will encounter a mysterious traveler whose story is inspired by real medieval cases of survival after incredible injuries. Help the man with an unusual request and learn more about his fate.
During a fast travel between the Devil's Place and the village of Grunta, located in the Kuttenberg region, you will come across a random event called "The Sleeping Man." If you decide to stop, you will meet a bald man with an arrow in his forehead.
His name is Karel Lob, and he will tell you that the arrow embedded in his forehead has magical properties, as nothing bad has happened to him since the injury. Eventually, Karel will ask you to help him carry a sack to his camp. If you agree, the quest will begin.
The sack that needs to be taken to the camp of the unusual traveler is lying on the roadside to the right of the main road, not far from where you met Karel.
Follow Karel, listening to his stories about invulnerability and how he ended up with an arrow in his head.
Once you reach the camp with Karel, leave the sack at the place where he puts his sack.
Karel will thank you, give you some groschen, and ask you to leave, as his people do not like strangers. Before leaving, you can talk to the bandit Goryun about camp life. Theoretically, you can destroy the camp and take the resources, but keep in mind that this is one of the few bandit camps where they are neutral towards you.
In the Middle Ages, there were cases where people survived severe injuries, such as being hit by an arrow or crossbow bolt in the face or skull, and continued to live full lives. Such cases were considered miraculous, and the victims themselves were perceived as people with incredible luck or even divine protection. Their stories became legends, evoking a mix of admiration and superstitious fear among those around them.
