Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Ransom Walkthrough

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, gamers will face the challenging task of rescuing a captured knight from the clutches of a Magyar baron. The choice between loyalty and betrayal will determine the outcome of this story, and decisions will affect reputation and rewards. We describe all possible options for completing the "Ransom" quest.
How to Start the Ransom Quest
During a fast travel around the outskirts of Danmark, located in the second story region of Kuttenberg, you may unexpectedly encounter an ambush set by Cumans. You will have to engage in a fight with five experienced and well-armed mercenaries. Two allies will fight on your side, which will slightly ease the task.
After successfully repelling the attack, speak with Jan Suchotlesky. He will express gratitude for your bravery and rescue. However, the conversation will not end there: Jan will ask for your help. He needs a brave person to go to Sigismund's camp to negotiate the ransom for his older brother, who is held captive by the Magyar baron Laslo Farkas.
Jan is confident that the envoy will not be harmed, as this contradicts the customs of negotiations. If you agree to help, you will receive a letter from Jan confirming your status as his representative, and the quest will begin at this point. If you refuse, you can later find Jan at the "Under the Oak" inn, located near the western gates of the capital city Kunta-Gora.
Find Peter Suchotlesky, the Captured Knight
Head to Sigismund's camp. First, find Peter — his body will be lying in the last wagon to the left of the northern entrance to the camp. After that, approach the first warrior you meet and ask what is known in the camp about the knight Peter Suchotlesky.
You will be advised to discuss this matter with the camp chaplain, the bathhouse mistress, or the healer Musa. We recommend talking to the healer, as he can provide the most detailed and useful information.
Try to Talk to Healer Musa
Find the field hospital, which is located to the left of the entrance to the main tent of the camp. There you will need to talk to the healer Musa from Mali. Ask him what he knows about the deceased knight. Musa will tell you that when Peter was brought to the camp, he was already in a serious condition due to fever.
The healer adds that theoretically, he had a chance to save the knight, but the Magyar baron's men insisted that priority in treatment should be given to their people, not prisoners. In conclusion, Musa will advise you to look for baron Laslo Farkas to the right of the blacksmith's tent, among the Cumans.
Find Laslo Farkas
Find the Cumans' tents to the right of the blacksmith. By the fire, you will meet baron Laslo Farkas. Approach him and inform him that you have arrived as Jan Suchotlesky's envoy, confirming your words with his letter regarding the negotiations for Peter's ransom. The baron will agree to listen to you. Tell him what you know about Peter's death. Upon hearing this, the baron will be visibly upset, as his plan has been exposed, and he will offer to conspire with him: to lie to Jan about his brother's fate in exchange for a generous reward.
If you agree to his proposal, pretending to support his plan, the baron will admit that he set up the ambush you encountered at the very beginning of the story. This will be an additional opportunity for you to deceive Jan. But regardless of your choice, at the end of the quest, you will still be able to support him. Ultimately, the baron will set a meeting place for further negotiations.
In the dialogues, you will find many response options, but they all lead to a single outcome. The only thing your words will affect is the change in reputation: depending on the chosen replies, it can either increase or decrease. However, this will not have a significant impact on the quest's finale.
Tell Jan What Was Discovered in the Camp
Head to the "Under the Oak" inn, where Jan will be waiting for you. Tell him about your meeting with baron Farkas. At this point, you can choose: betray Jan or remain loyal to him. If, after learning of Peter's death, you previously agreed to conspire with the baron, you can lie to Jan, saying that his brother is alive, and propose going to the meeting place with the Magyar. If you decide to support Jan, honestly inform him of Peter's death and agree to help gather people to confront Laslo.
In both cases, you will need to wait until noon the next day. Even if you initially decided to deceive Jan and hid the truth about his brother's death, right before the meeting with the baron, you will still have the opportunity to tell him the truth and join the preparation for the confrontation. However, if you decide to refuse participation in this adventure, the quest will fail: you will not receive a reward, and Jan will stop talking to you.
Find Reinforcements for Jan
This option is available if you decide to support Jan. Seek help from those you have previously assisted. For example, it could be Kubenka from the Devil's Place or the Cimburk brothers. The number of allies you can attract directly depends on how well you have explored the world and completed side quests. The maximum number of allies is four people.
Tell Jan You Are Ready to Act
Inform Jan that you are ready to stand against the Magyar baron Laslo Farkas. Even if you decide to proceed without additional allies, three more people, including Jan himself, will join you in the fight, so your group will consist of four fighters in total. Once you tell him you are ready to go to the meeting, the final part of the quest will begin.
Slay Laslo and His Cumans
At the burned mill, you will have to make an important choice: support Jan or side with baron Laslo. If you remain loyal to Jan, your squad will face seven experienced and well-armed fighters clad in armor. The battle will take place in open terrain, making it particularly challenging, so excellent combat skills will be required from you. To simplify the task, focus on the opponents your allies are attacking and try to avoid being surrounded.
If you managed to gather more people than the baron, you can avoid the fight altogether, as the numerical advantage will force Laslo to retreat.
Receive a Reward from Jan
Inform Jan that you have fulfilled your part of the promise. He will highly appreciate your valor, granting you a small monetary reward and allowing you to take Peter Suchotlesky's unique sword.
Kill Jan
If you decided to conspire with Laslo and betray Jan, you will have to kill him and his two loyal fighters.
Receive a Reward from Laslo
As a reward for your loyalty, baron Laslo Farkas will allow you to take Peter's full set of armor and his unique sword.
Alternative Quest Completion
You can choose Jan's side, help him defeat Laslo's squad, and then, showing treachery, kill Jan and his men. Thus, you will complete the quest with the opportunity to take all available valuables from the chests and the bodies of the fallen warriors.
Don't forget to climb to the very top of the burned mill, where a rare book titled "About Adamites, or the Naked Parishioners" will be waiting for you in one of the chests. As a reward, you can receive Peter Suchotlesky's unique sword and his full set of armor.
