Tokyo Game Show 2026 Highlights — Announcements, Trailers, and the Best Games
Late summer and early autumn are traditionally a packed season for gamers: you barely have time to circle all the important dates on the calendar. At the end of August, gamescom 2026 wrapped up, and less than a month later, on September 17, 2026, Tokyo Game Show (TGS) kicked off in Japan — Asia's biggest gaming event, which celebrates an anniversary this year.
Japanese developers are used to saving their most intriguing announcements for TGS, but the show has long outgrown Japanese game development alone. Every year, more and more studios from China, the US, South Korea and other countries take part.
This year's program featured more than 2,000 games, from big releases to indie projects. We picked the most interesting premieres, new trailers and gameplay details for previously announced projects. In short, the public paid the most attention to Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, Physint, Persona 4 Revival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Total War: Warhammer 40,000, Silent Hill: Townfall, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, Stranger Than Heaven and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve.
Read on for more about these and other notable announcements from Tokyo Game Show 2026.
The Anniversary Show
TGS is still far from gamescom in scale: while gamescom drew almost 370,000 visitors in 2026, the TGS organizers estimated attendance at roughly 200,000 people. Still, TGS has some records of its own.
The show turns 30 this year. The first Tokyo Game Show took place in 1996, when 3D games, Tomb Raider and Duke Nukem 3D among them, were only just appearing. To mark the anniversary, the show has for the first time in its history stretched to five days instead of the usual four. The first two days, September 17 and 18, were set aside for press and business visitors, while September 19, 20 and 21 were open to the general public.
The number of TGS 2026 participants is unprecedented: 1,138 companies (developers, publishers, hardware makers) from 53 countries (540 Japanese and 598 international). All of them fit into a record 3,999 exhibition booths.
Key Announcements and Trailers
The biggest share of attention from the press and rank-and-file gamers at TGS 2026 went to the largest Japanese publishers — Sony, Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, SEGA, Bandai Namco and Koei Tecmo. Among international publishers, Xbox stood out, as it did at gamescom, bringing a lineup of 15 projects to Japan.

So what were the most interesting announcements and trailers Tokyo Game Show 2026 gave us?
Major AAA Projects
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Xbox and Activision continue to prepare players for the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, scheduled for October 23, 2026. While gamescom 2026 showed the multiplayer, TGS featured a trailer for the story campaign. In the video, Captain Price, after the killing of General Shepherd in the finale of the previous installment, is forced to hide from his former comrades — Ghost and Gaz. At the same time, a full-scale conflict unfolds on the Korean Peninsula, and players will be part of it. The video also "flashed" the main antagonist, codenamed Archer, played by Mads Mikkelsen. The developers officially announced that the fourth installment will be the "epic finale" of the Modern Warfare sub-series, rebooted in 2019.
Control Resonant
Remedy Entertainment and SEGA presented a 15-minute playable demo of Control Resonant in Tokyo. The game comes out as soon as September 24, 2026, and to wrap up the ad campaign, the developers also showed a final trailer in which the protagonist Dylan moves through Remedy's typically surreal locations to the well-known song My Favourite Game by The Cardigans. The video shows how the mysterious Resonance phenomenon transforms New York, twisting skyscrapers into spirals and turning streets into labyrinths.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen
Capcom presented a final story trailer and a 30-minute demo of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen at TGS — a big DLC for the action RPG Dragon's Dogma 2. The expansion will officially launch on October 9, 2026. Players will head to a snowy northern continent, where the protagonist meets a mysterious warrior named Eir and, together with her, tries to uncover the secret of the Fallen Dragon. The trailer showed ice giants, winter dragons and monsters from the base game twisted by corruption. New hairstyles and tattoos for the hero and their pawns will also be added. No new classes are expected: the developers said they put all their effort into a greater variety of monsters and gear.
Final Fantasy 7: Revelation
Final Fantasy 7: Revelation — one of the most significant Japanese game franchises — predictably drew the most attention at the show. The game's previous showing at gamescom 2026 focused on airship flights and the open world, while at TGS Square Enix brought a demo showcasing the combat system and the abilities of new heroes — Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind. In the Winding Labyrinth location, the heroes fight hordes of enemies and the boss Jenova Death, who attacks with fireballs and tentacles. The demo also showed the FITS system of swappable tactical outfits: during battle, players can change their characters' gear through the command menu to use super attacks.
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi said in an interview that the game will "weigh" about 200 GB and get two DLCs — one about Vincent and one about Sephiroth. The release is set for April 8, 2027 on all platforms.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance
At TGS 2026, players were able to try a demo of Ascendance, a massive DLC for Monster Hunter Wilds, for the first time. Three quests were available: a hunt for Chatacabra, a fight against the new wyvern Araketa in the Floating Islands, and a battle with the fire dragon Teostra. The whole story of the expansion will focus on the Elder Dragons. For everyone who couldn't make it to Japan in person, Capcom's developers posted a 30-minute demo playthrough that shows not only the bosses but also the new Boost Bracer mechanic for speeding up combo strikes, as well as new aerial attacks and special moves for all weapon types. The expansion is due in 2027.
Physint
During the Xbox stream, game designer Hideo Kojima presented new material on Physint. He showed the costume fitting process, 3D scanning of actors and camera tests, and also named the actor cast in the lead role — Bill Skarsgård, known for the films It and Nosferatu.
Kojima calls Physint a "next-gen tactical espionage action game" and a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. According to him, it is the culmination of his 40-year career and will blur the line between digital art and cinema.
The game was supposed to be presented at the Sony booth — the Japanese giant originally funded the project. But Sony decided to end its support, and Xbox picked the game up. Physint's release window hasn't been announced; Kojima plans to release the horror game OD first, and work on it is in full swing.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Konami held the final presentation of the psychological horror game Silent Hill: Townfall. The game is officially set to release on September 24, 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5. The developers showed a final trailer and let players try a 45-minute demo. The trailer confirmed that this is the first game in the franchise made entirely from a first-person perspective. The action takes place in 1996 in the fog-shrouded Scottish town of St. Amelia. Series producer Motoi Okamoto stressed that Konami now sees Silent Hill not as a dot on the map but as a paranormal phenomenon. The classic radio has been replaced with a portable pocket retro TV that helps detect approaching monsters, solve puzzles and see hidden elements of the environment.
Stranger Than Heaven
The historical action game Stranger Than Heaven from the creators of the Like a Dragon and Yakuza series, published by SEGA, became one of the main events of the show. SEGA set up a huge interactive museum-style booth and held a large-scale presentation that revealed a lot of new details. The game's intro was shown, in which the protagonist Makoto Daito secretly arrives in Japan by ship in 1915 and fights the police. The story will touch on the rise of Japan's criminal syndicates and span 50 years. Cutscenes staged like a Broadway musical were shown as well.
Makoto turns out to be not just a fighter but a talented musician: players will compose music on the piano, put together a band and organize stage shows. The game can also boast a magnificent cast: besides well-known Japanese actors, the project features rapper Snoop Dogg, singer Tori Kelly and popular Japanese singer Ado. The official release is planned for January 15, 2027.
Total War: Warhammer 40,000
After Total War: Warhammer 40,000 won the prestigious Best PC Game award at gamescom 2026, inspired developers from Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA brought the project to Japan. TGS is where the strategy's first public demo was presented. In interviews, the developers revealed fundamental changes to the familiar Total War formula: the campaign map is not limited to a single planet, and instead of classic linear formations, units in battle will move in groups, use a cover system and jetpacks, and call in orbital bombardments.
For the first time in the history of the Total War series, the game is being developed with a simultaneous release on both PC and consoles in mind. There is no official release date yet, but the publisher is firmly aiming for 2027.
New Material for Previously Announced Games
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
The arcade flight sim Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve became one of the hits of the Bandai Namco booth. The game is fully complete and will be released on October 2, 2026. The publisher brought a large demo that lets you play through two full missions, plus a story trailer, and also revealed some gameplay and technical details. The game is set in 2029, during a war between the Sotoa Republic and the Federation of Central Usea. Players will take command of the Joker Flight squadron. The developers promise a maximum-hardcore mode that demands split-second decisions, as well as Cloudly technology, which lets you locate the enemy by the smoke trails from their engines.
Attack on Titan 3
Publisher Koei Tecmo and developers from Omega Force brought a huge booth with a giant Titan head to the show, and visitors were able to try a playable demo of Attack on Titan 3 for the first time. The game fully covers the entire storyline of the anime series, and scenes from previous games have been rebuilt from scratch on a new graphics engine. Besides the classic fights with giants, the game will have an outer missions mode in which, as a squad leader, the player takes charge of the base and the team, allocating resources, building supply outposts and deciding whether to advance or retreat. The publisher announced the release date — December 10, 2026.
Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories
Fans of anime and JRPGs got a treat: a new trailer for Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories from publisher Koei Tecmo. Show visitors could also try the demo. The story trailer confirmed the return of Rutger and Lenya, characters from Atelier Yumia. While exploring ruins, the heroine Karia stumbles upon a huge world hidden underground and discovers alchemy. From that point on, Karia can eat synthesis ingredients to boost her stats and change her combat style. The battles gained perfect parry and counterattack mechanics, chargeable skills that require precise timing, and powerful finishers. The game will be released on February 25, 2027.
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
Developers from ArtPlay and publisher 505 Games had to disappoint fans of the gothic action RPG Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement — the game will come out in 2027 rather than at the end of 2026 as planned. As consolation, Bloodstained series creator Koji Igarashi showed a new gameplay trailer. The story takes players to sixteenth-century England, where the floating castle of a Demon Lord named Elias appears out of nowhere. The game's main innovation will be a partner system designed for two-player co-op. The heroes fight together in real time, combining their attacks to defeat bosses and helping each other get past traps. Otherwise, the developers promised to keep the classic structure of the metroidvania genre — map exploration, ability upgrades, crafting.
Bloomwalker
After a year of silence, Xbox presented a trailer for the cozy adventure Bloomwalker from South Korean studio Netmarble Neo — an official spin-off of the Ni no Kuni franchise. The game is done in a recognizable anime style, and the story nods to the famous animated film Howl's Moving Castle. The protagonist travels across corrupted lands in a house on legs that serves as both a base and a companion. Instead of fighting, the player will cleanse the lands and monsters of toxic pollution, bringing color and life back to locations, as well as craft, gather materials and rebuild settlements. The developers promise an online mode, interaction with companions and charming familiars from the Ni no Kuni universe. The exact release date hasn't been announced yet.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour
The setting of Crazy Taxi: World Tour is supposed to be the whole world, so it makes sense that SEGA saved a Welcome to Japan trailer with a Japanese map, along with a playable demo at its booth, for TGS 2026. Japan will be the third of five international maps in the game's story campaign. The series' main character Axel will set off on a round-the-world trip to track down the mysterious car thieves who stole his taxi. In the trailer, the creators showed neon-drenched futuristic Japanese skyscrapers and quiet suburbs, and also recreated real, iconic Japanese eateries and shops, such as the ICHIRAN restaurant chain and the Kani Doraku crab restaurant. The release is set for 2027.
Decapolice
The detective cyberpunk JRPG Decapolice from Level-5 has officially been delayed to 2027, but the developers decided to please players with a fully playable demo. The game follows a young detective named Harvard who investigates crimes in a futuristic megalopolis. In a virtual simulation he and all the characters take the form of cute plush animals, while in the real world Harvard has to make accusations against suspects in the style of Ace Attorney. A convicted criminal turns into a monster, after which a turn-based battle begins. An official anime adaptation will be released alongside the game.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World
The first showing of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World took place in the summer of 2026, and at TGS 2026 Square Enix presented a new gameplay trailer revealing key gameplay mechanics and story details. The game tells the story of Bianca and Nera, familiar to fans from Dragon Quest V, who as children set out on a journey to find medicine for their sick fathers. The trailer showed the co-op battle mechanic for the first time, which changes the familiar turn-based combat scheme. Fans also got to see how monster taming and breeding work. The official release is set for December 3, 2026.
Edge of Memories
Publisher Nacon announced the release date of the action JRPG Edge of Memories — November 5, 2026. French developers from Midgar Studio are working on the game, but Japanese voice acting was showcased specially for Japanese audiences, performed by actors who worked on NieR Replicant, Frieren and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, along with a soundtrack by Japanese composer Yasunori Mitsuda. In the summer of 2026, Midgar Studio was declared bankrupt by a court, but Nacon promised to see the project through to release. Gameplay-wise, the game is a dynamic slasher that combines fast and heavy attacks, dodges and upgrading companions' combat skills for powerful joint combos.
Fallout 76: The Slasher
Bethesda keeps supporting Fallout 76: at TGS 2026 the studio showed a trailer for a major content update for the game — Fallout 76: The Slasher. The update went live back on September 15, 2026, but for the show the developers prepared a special animated trailer in which Vault Boy runs into a maniac in an abandoned house. According to the update's story, a crazed masked killer appears in Appalachia, and a cult of bloodthirsty fanatics forms around him. Players will have to complete a chain of missions to reach the maniac's lair and obtain a unique power armor set and a powerful new melee weapon.
Final Fantasy Resonance
Final Fantasy Resonance will be out very soon — on October 22, 2026. Ahead of the release, Square Enix presented a new four-minute story trailer. The game is an adaptation of the popular mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The script, dialogue and gameplay were rewritten from scratch so that the project feels like a full-fledged single-player story-driven JRPG.
The video showed turn-based strategic battles built around finding enemy weaknesses, and summoning Visions — images of legendary characters from other Final Fantasy games — to help. Visitors could also try a demo with three segments: the very beginning of the story, a dungeon and a boss fight in an arena.
Genigods: Nezha
Chinese studio Genigods Lab presented a new trailer for its action RPG Genigods: Nezha at TGS 2026. The project was announced in early 2026, and since then journalists have been calling it a "Chinese superhero epic" and a spiritual successor to Black Myth: Wukong. The trailer showed fragments of fights against huge bosses, control of elemental abilities and a distinctive combat rhythm that combines ground combos and vertical aerial duels. The heroine Nezha, created by the gods from earth, water and fire, must save a crumbling world. The developers promise fast slasher combat with stance switching and fights against mountain-sized gods. The game is scheduled for release in 2028.
Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton
The show featured the second trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton, a multiplayer action game in the Survivors Royale genre set in the universe of the popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen. The developer is indie studio poncle, the creators of the hit Vampire Survivors. The video confirmed the appearance of 8 bosses from the anime and clarified the gameplay basics: eight players land on an arena where they fend off endless waves of enemies. The two players with the most points at the end of the round advance to a final 1-on-1 duel for the title of winner. Visitors could also play the demo for the first time at the Shueisha Games publisher booth. The game was originally planned for release at the end of 2026 but has been pushed to 2027.
Mega Man: Dual Override
Capcom shared a new trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override — the long-awaited 12th numbered installment of the classic franchise, timed to the series' 40th anniversary. The publisher also let show visitors try a full demo. The developers walked through the gameplay of the second playable character — Proto Man. Instead of classic shooting, he wields something like an energy blade and actively uses his signature yellow shield to chain attack combos. You can't switch between characters on the fly: you pick your hero — Mega Man or Proto Man — at the very start of the playthrough and play as them until the credits. The game's hook should be the Override mechanic: heroes can briefly "overload" their weapon to deal colossal damage, but afterwards their stats drop for a while. The official release is planned for spring 2027.
Persona 4 Revival
Square Enix and Atlus delighted all JRPG fans with new material on Persona 4 Revival — the long-awaited remake of the cult Persona 4 Golden on Unreal Engine 5. The developers showed a personal story trailer for Naoto Shirogane — the "Detective Prince" and the last of the game's playable characters. Journalists and show visitors were also able to play a 15-minute demo. By first impressions, the developers have completely reworked the interface in the spirit of Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio, while keeping the original game's signature neon-yellow style. Battles have become much more dynamic and smooth, but the dungeon design (the TV World) remains the same. The game comes out on February 18, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S (in Game Pass from day one) and PC, and on May 20, 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
Show visitors were able to play a demo of the detective adventure Professor Layton and the New World of Steam from Level-5, which is being developed exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The protagonist Luke arrives in an American city going through a technological revolution thanks to the power of steam. He has to investigate a mysterious incident — giant steam machines coming to life and committing crimes. In the demo, players were given three puzzles to solve, including a tricky spatial challenge with gears and steam pipes. The game comes out on November 27, 2026.
Raji: Kaliyuga
Indian studio Nodding Heads Games, backed by Xbox, continues work on Raji: Kaliyuga, a sequel to the indie hit Raji: An Ancient Epic. At TGS 2026 the authors showed gameplay and revealed key combat mechanics. The story centers on the warrior Raji and her younger brother Darsha, who suffers from visions of the past and future. Together they travel through various worlds to save or finally destroy the universe in order to end the war. Unlike the first game, the sequel has fully moved to a third-person action-adventure format with a full 3D camera. The characters take turns as the story progresses and act as companions in battles. The game's exact release date hasn't been announced yet.
Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United
The 3D remake of the cult 1995 JRPG Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United was announced on September 9, 2026 during a Nintendo Direct, and at TGS Square Enix brought a 15-minute demo and shared important gameplay details. The graphics have gone fully 3D, with redesigned characters and modern animations. All story cutscenes are voiced in Japanese and English. Players still get 8 main characters and an open world. Battles remain turn-based but gained a turn-order gauge, while the "commander mode" (in which the main character didn't fight but gave orders from the rear) has been removed. The game's official release is set for February 16, 2027.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember
Xbox showed a game from its partners at Koei Tecmo — the soulslike Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember. The project was announced back in June 2026, and at TGS 2026 its release date on all platforms — March 4, 2027 — was announced and a new trailer was shown. The developers also released a public demo, available on all platforms until September 30, 2026. In it, players can try out the gameplay changes: more spacious open locations, air dodges, new elemental weapon tempering mechanics and a morale system. The story still unfolds in an alternate Three Kingdoms era in ancient China, torn apart by war between humans and an invasion of demons.
Premiere Announcements
Faraday Blues
Indie studio Serenity Forge showed the public the first trailer for Faraday Blues, a surreal visual novel with card strategy mechanics. The heroine Lina comes to in an unfamiliar place in front of an old computer. A strange tabletop card game is running on the screen, and two of the cards show her parents' faces. Lina has to "reboot the board" and change the past again and again to save her family.
The developers promise 64 endings, three visual styles and every player decision affecting subsequent events. The project is also notable for its bright ensemble of creators: artist Satchely is known for designing the characters of Doki Doki Literature Club, while composer Chris Wilson is the author of the popular webcomic Cyanide & Happiness. The release is set for 2027.
Gachiakuta: Breakout
Xbox showed the debut trailer for the action RPG Gachiakuta: Breakout, based on the well-known anime from studio Bones. Developers from South Korean studio Com2uS demonstrated vivid cel-shaded graphics, a mechanic for crafting weapons out of trash and a dynamic fight with a boss named Jabber Wonger.
The game's story follows the events of the anime's first season: the protagonist Rudo, wrongly accused of murder, ends up in the Pit, where he joins the local gang of Cleaners. Besides fighting enemies, the player will build a base and interact with partners. The game promises full real-time co-op. The release is planned for 2027.
Hope in the City
Canadian studio Lofty Sky Games (the creators of Sky of Tides and Eternal Spring), backed by Xbox, presented the first trailer for the detective adventure Hope in the City. Seventeen-year-old schoolgirl Hope investigates the mysterious disappearance of her parents in the Chinese city of Shenyang. Hope is not a professional detective but a talented artist, so she sketches all the clues in her notebook to later connect them into logical chains. The developers emphasize the nonlinearity of the story and the city's distinctive high-contrast stylization, which conveys the spirit of street culture and hidden tension. The release is set for November 10, 2026.
Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back
Studio Dragami Games used the show for several major announcements at once. Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back is due out in 2027 — a 15-minute demo of the game was available at the SEGA / ATLUS booth. The project brought in JP Games, headed by Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV, along with the "old guard" — the first game's screenwriter Masahiro Yuki and artist Nekoshogun. Only Goichi Suda (Suda51) and James Gunn stayed out. The developers separately stressed that the sequel will keep all of its signature crazy style and won't get any censorship restrictions.
In addition, TGS 2026 saw the announcement of the start of production on a live-action feature film based on the game and an animated series, as well as a small update for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP.
PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct
Besides the game demos at company booths and the live broadcasts from the show, the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct presentation took place, featuring more than 30 PC projects. Here are the most interesting ones.
Escape from Playtime: A Smiling Critters Adventure
Escape from Playtime: A Smiling Critters Adventure — a cooperative first-person survival horror set in the Poppy Playtime universe — has received a new closed playtest trailer. The game is designed for a team of 1 to 4 players. Players find themselves locked in the abandoned Playtime Co toy factory, where a mysterious Voice gives them tasks to collect scattered parts and resources. The game is planned to launch in early access, where it will stay for about a year.
Hello Sunshine
Norwegian studio Red Thread Games (the creators of Dreamfall Chapters) showed a new trailer for the mystical survival RPG Hello Sunshine. What makes the game interesting is that instead of the usual missions about escorting a weak partner, it puts the player in the shoes of a character whose life depends entirely on a huge walking robot. By day, the scorching sun and radiation are deadly, and the only way to survive is to move strictly in the shadow of the giant war machine. The game is promised for 2026, and a closed beta test is planned as well.
Marked For Mayhem
Fans of cooperative dungeon crawlers will be pleased by the first trailer for Marked For Mayhem. The game offers a hybrid format: players have to defeat enemies together as a team but at the same time compete with each other for the title of best mercenary. The gameplay is designed for 4 players, and the game's motto is "A shared mission, but not shared glory." Players can use special abilities to redirect boss attacks onto their rival teammates.
Neon Abyss 2
The dynamic 2D shooter and action roguelike Neon Abyss 2 now has an exact release date — October 8, 2026. To mark the occasion, the developers showed a new gameplay trailer introducing Teya, the Goddess of Vanity, who will be the players' main challenge in the finale. Unlike the first game, the sequel offers full online co-op that supports playthroughs in a team of up to 4 players. Players get more diverse combat styles, and the synergy mechanic for items and weapons now offers virtually limitless combinations.
Stronghold 4
Developers from Firefly Studios continue to reveal details of the long-awaited next entry in the strategy series, Stronghold 4. The new trailer focuses on battles against the AI. 8 unique AI lords to fight against were also introduced. Players will go through a cinematic campaign of 22 missions and learn the story of Penrin of Wethel — a simple shepherd who is destined to become a knight and a leader. The game is scheduled to release at the end of 2026.
Thief: The Dark Project Remastered
The return of the legendary thief Garrett from the classic stealth action game Thief became known back in the summer of 2026. At TGS, developers from Nightdive Studios showed a new trailer for Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, featuring the exploration of gloomy mansions, crypts, dungeons and sewers. It is a remaster, not a remake, but it will have a number of new features: support for gamepads, gyroscope and haptic feedback, a convenient weapon wheel, and mission selection for replays. The release is planned for winter 2026–2027.
Undefeated: Genesis
The developers of Undefeated: Genesis also had to announce a delay — instead of the end of 2026, the game is now due in early 2027. The project is positioned as a spiritual successor and prequel to the free indie hit Undefeated from 2019, made by students and downloaded millions of times. At the show, the developers presented a new trailer in which the protagonist — an ordinary student named Al — is transported to a distant planet where he gains superpowers. A new free demo is now available on PC on Steam.
Wane
The first trailer was shown for the tactical roguelike Wane from studio WuselFaktory. The protagonist is an archaeologist whose memory is rapidly fading. The game world map is literally a map of his own memories, and each individual biome represents a specific corner of his vanishing mind. Players will dive into the depths of the character's memory, fighting their way through brutal turn-based tactical battles. The exact release date hasn't been set yet, but the developers plan to release a free demo in 2027.
We Were Here Tomorrow
Dutch studio Total Mayhem Games presented a new trailer for the cooperative puzzle game We Were Here Tomorrow and revealed its exact release date — October 20, 2026. It is the sixth installment of the well-known series, which this time completely changes the familiar setting. Instead of the usual medieval castles and snowy wastelands, the action moves to a retro-futuristic complex beneath Antarctic ice. The gameplay formula remains unchanged — it is a strictly cooperative adventure for two, where the players are separated and see different parts of the same puzzle. We also spoke with the developers at gamescom 2026 — see our interview with the We Were Here Tomorrow developers.
GTA 6 at TGS 2026
Take-Two, the company running the advertising campaign for GTA 6, couldn't skip a major gaming event like TGS. No, nobody got to play GTA 6, of course, and no new trailer was prepared for the show either. But at the PlayStation booth, a 300-inch screen was set up showing the An Extended Look video from August 27. For extra effect, Sony used a floor haptic feedback system. GTA 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
